MACBETH — I was thrilled when Ian Belknap asked me to work with him on The Acting Company’s 2014 season. Dedicated to the development of young classical actors, TAC brings high quality professional theatre to hundreds of small towns and major cities across America through its national touring repertories. I created artwork for both Macbeth and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court, which were ultimately joined in double-feature-type displays.
In my advertising experience, there is always a debate about how much blood is too much blood. This “rejected” poster (albeit bloody) was my favorite among the Macbeths. I feel this bold, stark imagery conveys all the drama, violence, and haunting poetry of this most famous Shakespearean classic.
